If there’s one thing that truly blew me away on my Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady Caribbean cruise (January 2025)—it was the food! From fresh, high-quality ingredients to incredible restaurant experiences, this cruise delivered on every level. It was so impressive that I had to dedicate an entire vlog to it!

In this video, I’m sharing my honest reviews of the best restaurants onboard, including my top food highlights, what I’d recommend ordering, and some useful tips to help you make the most of your dining experience. Whether you’re looking for healthy options, indulgent treats, or unique foodie experiences, this cruise has it all!

Here’s what you can expect:
🍽️ The Galley – A casual, open-all-day dining hall with everything from sushi and tacos to omelettes, bagels, and full English breakfasts.

🥩 The Wake – A fancy steakhouse where we enjoyed an elegant evening meal AND a delicious brunch (which I actually preferred!).

🍝 Extra Virgin – My absolute favourite! One of the best Italian meals I’ve ever had—authentic, fresh, and full of flavour.

👨‍🍳 Test Kitchen – A unique dining experience where you can see your food being prepared. Smaller plates but big on flavour—loved the venison and chocolate dessert!

🥢 Razzle Dazzle – A creative take on Chinese food. Not usually my go-to cuisine, but the fried shrimp with walnuts was amazing!

🎬 Final Night Treats – A cosy movie night with fresh pizza, donuts, and cakes—because why not finish the trip on a sweet note?

** Note on Virgin pricing, as there can be some confusion: prices are assuming double occupancy. So if it's $2400 per cabin, that's $1200 each, on a double occupancy basis.

Keep in mind that you are paying per passenger, not per cabin even though that's how they present the pricing.

Most other Cruise lines advertise their pricing per person, but it's also assuming double occupancy.

I’ve just disembarked a cruise on Norwegian Prima where I took a journey through food that included some seriously impressive cruise ship tech and some immersive dining experiences that I will never forget.

I even tested a few new cruise food concepts along the way that I’ve never seen before on a ship, or on land for that matter.

When we embarked Norwegian Prima in New York City we headed straight to the biggest main dining room onboard, Hudson’s. Hudson’s is a complimentary restaurant meaning that everything here is included and the food is totally unlimited, I’ve been cruising with Norwegian since I was a child and I always loved going to the main dining room for lunch or dinner.

You could, in theory, eat here for every meal of the cruise but as there are lots of other options so I wouldn’t recommend just eating in one place for an entire cruise.

The restaurant has these amazing floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap right way around the sides meaning that whether you’re in a port or at sea, you always have a great view. I loved the design of the restaurant including these light fittings that I think look like butterflies that flutter slightly when the ships at sea.

The service was good, there was lots of choice on some of the biggest menus I’ve ever seen and we would end up visiting Hudson’s again for both breakfast and dinner during the cruise. There is a second main dining room restaurant onboard too which is a great option if Hudson’s is busy but we always picked Hudson’s because of the amazing views and we never had to wait for a table as the restaurant is massive.

One of my favourite things about cruising with Norwegian has always been the freestyle dining, which means that there are no set dining times for the main dining rooms and you just show up to eat when you’re hungry.

As well as the included main dining room there is included food in the buffet, the local and my personal favourite the indulge food hall but more about that later.
