Get ready, cruise enthusiasts! Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is making waves with some major updates in 2025. 🌊 From new onboard perks to exciting additions to the fleet, these changes to NCL in 2025 will redefine your cruising experience. Here's a full breakdown of what to expect:

🌟 More at Sea – A New Era for Perks
Say goodbye to the familiar Free at Sea program and hello to More at Sea, launching for sailings starting January 1, 2025. This new package retains perks like unlimited open bar, specialty dining, WiFi, and shore excursion credits, while introducing improved options such as premium spirits with no price cap and WiFi for all stateroom guests. However, the perks now come with fixed fees, so budgeting for your cruise might look a little different!

🍹 Changes to Drink Packages
Big updates are coming to NCL’s drink offerings. While the Premium Beverage Package now includes 45% more premium brands and eliminates the $15 drink limit, some favorites like bottled water and specialty coffee remain excluded. Plus, NCL is eliminating its Premium Plus upgrade option, meaning guests will need to purchase separate plans for additional amenities. These changes to NCL in 2025 could impact how you plan your onboard indulgences!

🍽️ Specialty Dining Overhaul
Specialty dining on NCL is undergoing a significant shift. Dining packages are being discontinued, replaced with a fixed cover charge for specialty restaurants. While this simplifies pricing, casual diners may find it less flexible. The new structure includes three meals for balcony staterooms on 7-night sailings—an improvement—but additional specialty dining will now require an à la carte payment. This is one of the most impactful changes to NCL in 2025, particularly for foodies.

🚢 Introducing Norwegian Aqua
The highly anticipated Norwegian Aqua is set to debut in April 2025 as the first in the Prima Plus class. Packed with innovations, this ship will feature the world’s first Aqua Slidecoaster, expanded recreational areas like a two-level mini-golf course and pickleball court, and a new Thai specialty restaurant, Sukhothai. These exciting additions promise to make Norwegian Aqua a standout in the NCL fleet and highlight how NCL continues to evolve with the times.

----WHAT’S INCLUDED ON VIRGIN VOYAGES-----
Like all cruise lines, the Virgin Voyages fare includes your accommodations for the duration of the voyage. The cruise line boasts more than 85% of the cabins on the ship have balconies. Of course, you can opt for cabins from several different categories. The type of stateroom you choose will be the main driver of the total cruise costs.

The cruise line also includes a number of daily activities. These include use of the fitness center, trivia, games at the Social Club, and group fitness classes. Likewise, on a Virgin Voyages cruise, you can enjoy live music from the House Band and a solo guitarist. Members of the Happenings Cast also provide headliner-style acts throughout the cruise.

The cruise ship's theater, the Red Room, is home to several productions as well. These include Duel Reality (a cirque style show), an interactive dance party, and Ships in the Night. The ship's Diva also hosts a show in the Manor. In addition, you will find the risque Never Sleep Alone cabaret show in the Manor on several nights of your cruise.

Virgin Voyages cruise fare also encompasses many additional amenities not typically included on contemporary cruise lines. All dining and restaurants are complimentary. This includes the American steakhouse, an Italian trattoria, a Mexican tapas restaurant, a Korean BBQ, and more.

Further, basic Wi-Fi is covered, as is all gratuities for services, including the typical "daily service charge" and any additional gratuities on purchases like drinks and spa treatments.

----NOT EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED ON VIRGIN VOYAGES-----
While the Virgin Voyages cruise fare does cover a lot, not everything on the ship is complimentary.

The cruise line does include a number of premium beverages, like sparkling and still water and soda, but it does not include alcohol. Also, the cruise line does not include specialty coffee, including espresso based drinks from the Grounds Club.

Further, Virgin Voyages does not offer a drink package for purchase. Thus, the costs of your bar tab can add up quickly.

Unlike luxury cruise lines, access to the thermal suite is not part of the cruise fare either. Cruisers need to buy day passes to use the Redemption Spa's thermal suite. Other treatments, like massages, facials, manicures, etc., are also an additional cost.

In addition, the cruise fare does not cover premium Wi-Fi, which enables streaming of content. It also does not cover items like shore excursions, shopping, any gaming in the casino, as well as transportation to and from the pier.

Although, Mega Rockstar Suites do get a number of these upgrades, including an unlimited open-bar, transportation to and from the pier, plus premium Wi-Fi. So, it might make sense to upgrade to these cabins to take advantage of the extra value.

Metallica plays two versions of "Master of Puppets" live. One version ends before the slow and soften part of the song - and the other one is the complete version as it was released on the same entitled album.
Since its release it has almost always been a fixed part of Metallica's live show.

The Best Solos Ever Reader's Choice:
The solo of "Master of Puppets" reached the 51st place in the "100 Best Solos Ever Reader's Choice" in the september 1998 issue of Guitar World.

The covers:
Primus recorded a cover of "Master of Puppets". Holochaust and Limp Bizkit just covered the song during their live shows.

The samples:
"Master of Puppets" has been sampled by Anthrax for "I'm The Man!" and by The Pulp for "Metal Techno".

Subject matter:
It is about the drug (especially heroin) addiction and its consequences.

Interpretation possibility #2:
If the song refers to the album's cover, the song could stand for how the government controls soldiers' lives and send them into death. Depending on the lyrics the cover artwork would better fit to "Disposable Heroes".

The government: The hands with strings which are connected to
-the white crosses on the ground. The hands are in the sky because
-in the figurative sense the government stands above everything.
-The government conrols - pulls the strings.

The soldiers: Stand for the white crosses which are used for the burial of
-deceased soldiers of war. At the cross on the left of the cover there is
-an army helmet and at the cross in middle of the cover there is an army
-identification tag hanging on. The high grown grass could maybe hint at
-that the graves are old or that the nameless soldiers are falling into oblivion.


Metallica about "Master of Puppets"
Kirk Hammett: I used a Mesa-Boogie Mark 2C amp and a black Randy Rhoads custom Jackson guitar. For the four-bar fill at the beginning of the song, the rest of the guys wanted something high and screeching, but I came up with something a bit more percussive and riff-like, a flatted fifth-type figure. I got this real raunchy, over distorted sound which clashed well with the tight rythm sound James had. James played the first solo in that song, which is a great solo. I worked on the next solo for a couple of days - getting it tight was a real task for me. While recording the track, my hand accidently pulled a string off the neck, and it grounded on the neck pick-up, giving me something like a high D. It sounded like I slid up to a super high note that isn't even on the neck, so we left it. For the next solo we used backwards guitar parts. To get them I played a bunch of guitar parts that were in the same key as the song and laid them down on quarter-inch tape. Then we flipped the tape over and edited it, so we had two or three minutes of backwards guitar. We put it in the last verse of the song.

James Hetfield: I think we wanted to write another song like "Creeping Death" - with open chords carried by the vocals and a real catchy chorus. On "Master of Puppets" [album] we started getting into the longer, more orchestrated songs. It was more of a challenge to write a long song that didn't seem long. The riff for that song was pretty messy - constantly moving it works good live; people love to scream "Master!" a couple of times. (source: GuitarWorld issue of '91)
