Today I’m taking one of the worlds most luxurious First Class cruises, for 5 days to the Caribbean. Join me in the very best suite onboard, dubbed the Mega Rockstar Massive Suite.

As always I’ll give you a comprehensive review of the experience, from the food on offer, the onboard facilities such as the luxurious spa, the pools & our private hot tub. My aim is to see if this really is the luxury cruise line which it’s been touted as, and if this is a true luxurious experience. I’d also like to benchmark this against other experiences, such as the Orient Express, Rovos Rail or even Queen Mary 2 trips which I’ve taken over the last few months.

I already expect this to be a more informal approach to luxury, but will the best suite onboard live up to expectations. Oh and talking of our suite, this features, a bedroom, living room, Italian marble bathroom, music studio and the largest balcony / terrace you’ve seen at sea. This really is like a floating 5* hotel.

FYI the “I’m mad that Virgin Voyages doesn’t pay for our champagne” comment is a joke. Some people don’t catch that because some people are GENUINELY UPSET that they have to pay for their own alcohol. I find this… interestingggg…. But everyone is allowed to have their own opinions!!

REDDIT. This sucked. Someone else posted a question in a forum (I didn’t even start it!!) and they asked if people tip on Virgin Voyages. I added my honest opinion which is “it’s totally optional, but yes… I tip.” Then I gave examples of when I do and do not tip and ranges of tip amounts. That’s right! I don’t tip 100% of the time. It’s when “it makes sense” and only WE can be the judge of when those times are. To say “I GOT ATTACKED” is an understatement. People flipped out and you know what? I’m not surprised. Because on Reddit you can use a little avatar and the “trolls” out there can hide anonymously behind the safety of their keyboard. I ended up taking the comment down because it was bananas. Cue the Gwen Stefanai “Bananas” song here. Am I pissed about it? No. Are there awful people in the world? Yes. But that’s the case anywhere.

----WHAT’S INCLUDED ON VIRGIN VOYAGES-----
Like all cruise lines, the Virgin Voyages fare includes your accommodations for the duration of the voyage. The cruise line boasts more than 85% of the cabins on the ship have balconies. Of course, you can opt for cabins from several different categories. The type of stateroom you choose will be the main driver of the total cruise costs.

The cruise line also includes a number of daily activities. These include use of the fitness center, trivia, games at the Social Club, and group fitness classes. Likewise, on a Virgin Voyages cruise, you can enjoy live music from the House Band and a solo guitarist. Members of the Happenings Cast also provide headliner-style acts throughout the cruise.

The cruise ship's theater, the Red Room, is home to several productions as well. These include Duel Reality (a cirque style show), an interactive dance party, and Ships in the Night. The ship's Diva also hosts a show in the Manor. In addition, you will find the risque Never Sleep Alone cabaret show in the Manor on several nights of your cruise.

Virgin Voyages cruise fare also encompasses many additional amenities not typically included on contemporary cruise lines. All dining and restaurants are complimentary. This includes the American steakhouse, an Italian trattoria, a Mexican tapas restaurant, a Korean BBQ, and more.

Further, basic Wi-Fi is covered, as is all gratuities for services, including the typical "daily service charge" and any additional gratuities on purchases like drinks and spa treatments.

----NOT EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED ON VIRGIN VOYAGES-----
While the Virgin Voyages cruise fare does cover a lot, not everything on the ship is complimentary.

The cruise line does include a number of premium beverages, like sparkling and still water and soda, but it does not include alcohol. Also, the cruise line does not include specialty coffee, including espresso based drinks from the Grounds Club.

Further, Virgin Voyages does not offer a drink package for purchase. Thus, the costs of your bar tab can add up quickly.

Unlike luxury cruise lines, access to the thermal suite is not part of the cruise fare either. Cruisers need to buy day passes to use the Redemption Spa's thermal suite. Other treatments, like massages, facials, manicures, etc., are also an additional cost.

In addition, the cruise fare does not cover premium Wi-Fi, which enables streaming of content. It also does not cover items like shore excursions, shopping, any gaming in the casino, as well as transportation to and from the pier.

Although, Mega Rockstar Suites do get a number of these upgrades, including an unlimited open-bar, transportation to and from the pier, plus premium Wi-Fi. So, it might make sense to upgrade to these cabins to take advantage of the extra value.

WELL BEING
For the 'do nothings', 'do some things' and the 'do literally everythings' (you know who you are), we have a way to sweat that suits you. From sun-rise yoga to outdoor boxing, meditation to HIIT workouts, and even specifically curated hikes at our ports, our approach to working out is that it works for you. If you just want to sweat it out take a run around our outdoor jogging track. We definitely won't judge.

SPA EXPERIENCE
Whether your idea of relaxation is a sun salutation or a hot stone massage, you're about to get it OMMM (lol we know). A cross between a week spent in Bali and 2 hours at a cafe in Amsterdam, Redemption spa is a haven of tranquility and self-preservation. Royal Caribbean moves on from its Oasis-Class ships, the Wonder of the Seas (the current largest cruise ship in the world), the Oasis, Allure, Harmony, and Symphony of the Seas, to a brand-new ship class that will outsize it. We're talking about the iconic Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's newest ship class since the Quantum-Class, Odyssey, Quantum, Anthem, and Ovation of the Seas. Celebrity Cruises will also add a fourth Edge-Class ship in 2023 (Celebrity Ascent, sister ship of Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Edge, and Celebrity Beyond).

After Carnival Cruise Line has recently launched its brand-new and very exciting Carnival Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration cruise ships with the first Roller Coasters at Sea, it is finally ready to launch the Carnival Jubilee on Carnival's 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary!

Richard Branson's Cruise line, the adults-only Virgin Voyages, is excited to debut the Brillian Lady in 2023, a sister ship to the Scarlet Lady, the Valiant Lady, and the Resilient Lady.

Princess Cruises will present its newest flagship class (the Sphere Class with the Sun Princess) and so will Holland America Line, Cunard Cruises, and Disney! Disney Cruise Line will acquire Dream Cruises' massive Global Dream, one of the world's largest cruise ship classes, its first ship acquisition ever. This will be Disney's newest ship since the Disney Wish, which was recently inaugurated in 2022!

Another cruise line with an impressive new lineup next year is MSC Cruises. After launching the Seaside Plus Class's MSC Seashore (sister ship to the MSC Seaside and MSC Seaview) and the MSC Virtuosa, from Meraviglia-Class, in 2021, they will launch a brand new World Class (MSC World Europa!). This will be the world's tallest cruise ship with 22 decks - and it will offer pretty cheap cruises and affordable cruise vacations!

Norwegian Cruise Line will also grow its Prima Class of vessels, which currently includes the spectacular Norwegian Prima, the only cruise ship in the world with a three-story Go Cart race track! The Norwegian Viva will be a sister ship of the Norwegian Prima and will be released in 2023 for Caribbean Cruises. Many of the ships presented in this list will sail from American Ports such as Galveston, Texas, Miami, Orlando, Port Canaveral, and Fort Lauderdale in Florida, or even New York City for cruises to Mexico, the Bahamas, Bermuda, and more. Some will also sail in the Mediterranean for cruises to Spain, Italy, Greece, and more!
